Yamaha MT-10 Review Features, Specs & Prices

Yamaha MT-10 is a naked bike version of the Yamaha YZF-R1 superbike. Utilizing the same basic crossplane crankshaft engine but tuned with a bias toward low-end and midrange power, the MT-10 was an instant hit with those riders wanting that same R1 character in a versatile naked bike.

The Yamaha MT 10 was Japan’s first proper super naked and still is. Its looks are divisive, but the way it rides on the road is up there with the Aprilia Tuono V4 1100 Factory, KTM 1290 Super Duke R and Ducati Streetfighter V4 S.

Having just been refreshed for pretty much the first time since 2016, the new 2022 Yamaha MT-10 is here with more power, more tech, and more fun. The Yamaha MT-10 is one of those bikes that never seems to grow up. You spot them on the road all the time, and with its transformer styling front and centre, it really is a hard bike to ignore. That changes for this year, as the 2022 Yamaha MT-10 gets a big update, with revised styling, tech, and more power.

The new 2022 MT-10 gets a more stripped-down look, with unnecessary bodywork removed. Enlarged intake ducts mounted on either side of the fuel tank cover increase efficiency while enhancing the bike’s aggressive stance. The sculpted 4.5-gallon fuel tank design allows for a solid feeling of knee grip and lower body control.

The 2022 Yamaha MT-10 will be offered in two color options: Cyan Storm or Matte Raven Black. The Retail price of the 2022 MT-10 is $13,999.

New twin-eye mono-focus LED headlights and LED position lights above the headlights combine with a more compact nose assembly to minimize overhang. Separate high and low beam units are said to project a powerful, even beam with softer light at the edges.

For 2022, Yamaha has refined the MT-10’s liquid-cooled, 998cc CP4 inline-Four with new fuel injection settings and revised intake and exhaust systems that are said to deliver a more torquey, street-focused engine character. Power increases from 158.2 bhp to 163.6 bhp, while torque increases from 81.9 pound-feet to 82.6 pound-feet, peaking at 11,500 rpm and 9,000 rpm respectively.

An advanced anti-lock braking system or ABS, is mated to high-specification braking components for excellent braking power and control. Radial-mount, 4-piston front calipers use sintered brake pads to grip a pair of large 320mm discs for exceptional braking power. With a 220mm rear disc brake in support, the compact ABS module provides rapid and accurate brake force modulation to prevent wheel lock-ups.

The MT-10 features an inverted 43mm KYB® front fork which offers full adjustability and 4.7 inches of travel, for excellent front-end feel and road holding along with a tuning range ready for a wide range of street conditions.

The four-way-adjustable KYB® piggyback-style shock uses a rear bottom link pivot position that is strategically placed for optimal handling and excellent transmission of engine torque to the asphalt. Like the front fork, the MT-10’s rear suspension offers a wide range of adjustment and a smooth, well-controlled 4.7 inches of wheel travel.
